Spiced Apple Pork Chops
Essential to the recipe, the thickness of the pork chops ensures that the chops stay tender and juicy throughout the long cook time of this comforting meal.
- 4 Thick, Bone-In, Center-Cut Pork Chops
- 1/4 tsp Sea Salt
- 1/2 tsp Pepper
- 1 tsp Olive or Avocado Oil
- Olive Oil Cooking Spray
- 1 Onion
- 2 Cups Water
- 1/4 Cup Brown or Coconut Sugar
- 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp Ground Cloves
- 1/2 tsp Ground Ginger
- 5 oz Dried apples
Sprinkle pork with salt and pepper. Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add oil to pan; swirl to coat. Add pork to pan; cook 3 minutes on each side or until browned.
Transfer pork to a slow cooker coated with olive oil cooking spray, reserving drippings in pan. Reduce heat to medium. Add onion to drippings in pan; cook 3 minutes or until tender. Stir in 2 cups water, scraping pan to loosen browned bits. Stir in brown sugar and next 3 ingredients (through ginger). Remove pan from heat.
Add apples to slow cooker; pour onion mixture over apples. Cover and cook on LOW for 3 to 4 hours or until tender. Serve pork chops with apple mixture.
